This motivational sign is only about 8" tall. "Be the reason someone smiles today" is a powerful message. The value of this goal is completely unselfish but self-healing as well. It is as close to a win-win as you can get. It is also one of those efforts that can be free and easy. If you pass someone on the street and offer a nice "hello" and smile you have made your town a better place.
Correction:
I received a couple of helpful emails about yesterday's train pattern. I showed the coupling pins as loose. Obviously, for safety reasons they should be glued to the top coupler. Shorten the pin so it is just long enough to mate with the bottom coupler then glue it in the top coupler.
This may be a good time to talk about toy safety. Some safety issues like the one above are pretty obvious. Other safety issues may be less obvious so it is very important to use considerable caution and make sure the child is of an appropriate age for the toy. I am not going to suggest that I know those appropriate ages because I think they vary from child to child. We have all known 18-year-olds who should not be left in a room along with sharp scissors.
Because the toy train pattern has small parts it will probably not be a good choice for small children.
