This tombstone comes in two spooky sizes. The small pattern is 10.25" tall and The large pattern is over 15.5" tall. I give recommended thicknesses for the pieces but don't get stuck on that. You could use all 3/4" plywood to cut these parts and it will look fine.
This is another pattern that you will probably want to paint. There are many different textured and faux stone spray paints out there. That would look cool on the tombstone. The photo below is one that I have and have used on a few projects. It looks very natural when dried. The sample below is on plywood.
When you click the link you will see that it comes in a few different textures.
One technique is to coat the board with stone paint but another method is to paint the board with a flat earth tone paint and then just mist the stone spray paint over the painted board. This gives you better control of the color.
After painting with the stone spray paint you will need mechanical fasteners to attach the decorations. Glue will not bond well with the stone paint. You might be able to use a two-part epoxy.
