Much of the U.S. is getting pummeled right now with brutal wind chill, snow, and ice. Here in southern Indiana, we have 10 degrees with a wind chill of -8. That is 20 to 30 degrees warmer than many parts of the country. We are expecting a low of -6 real temperature later tonight.
When we moved last year I gave my Kerosene heater away and planned to get a newer one after we got settled. Didn't happen. I went out today to get some emergency heat and of course, all Kerosene heaters were sold out. I ended up purchasing an 11,000 BTU Mr. Heater Buddy Flex. I also purchased the hose to allow it to connect to my 20lb tank. It is about half the BTU of my old Kerosene heater but hopefully, it will keep us warm enough if we lose power. Fingers crossed they keep the power on.
I know that many of you will be traveling for Christmas. Please be careful. These temperatures are deadly if not planned for. There are areas where we are not used to this type of temperature so preparation may not be adequate. If you have to travel make sure you carry emergency supplies in your car. Even if it is only some spare water, food and blankets it is better than nothing.
