Eight Inch Ring Basket Scroll Saw Pattern.

These concentric ring basket patterns are efficient because they use so little wood. All rings are cut from one, 8.5" X 8.5" X 1/4" piece of Baltic birch plywood. You do need to use the smallest diameter drill bit you can to drill the interior ring entry holes. The entry holes will show a little but can be minimized with sanding. A 1/6" drill bit is about the largest I would use.

This basket is 8" in diameter. All the parts are 1/4" thick.

You do want to take your time cutting the circles. Defects in the circles show easily. Sanding can help erase the defects if they are not too bad. I painted this basket black but natural wood looks nice also.

Sample patter so you can see the rings.

Hand-Powered Scroll Saw From the 1920s Semi-Restoration:

I really like the restoration of this old Delta scroll saw. I call it a semi-restoration because he does not take it back to a new appearance. He cleans and lubricates it to get it back in running condition. I think that was appropriate for this tool.

He also goes into a bit of history which is fun.

This saw originally sold for $6. That would be the equivalent of about $90 in today's money.

The next video is the same saw but from a different YouTube Channel. In this video James discusses more of the history and the way the saw works.

Here is a simple puzzle you can do with toothpicks

Keep watching for the solution.
You have to use all the toothpicks.
You cannot just remove a toothpick.
