The compound cut Happy Birthday patterns require a blank that is 1.5" X 1.5" X 8". There are patterns included for ages 1 through 99 years old. This will make a unique birthday gift.

I also have a second pattern for you today.

The Easter-themed napkin holder is cut from 1/2" thick wood. Add a special touch to your Easter lunch table.

INFORMATION:
I am receiving emails asking about the images I have been using for my patterns lately. The images are 3d computer-generated renderings. Over the years I have designed and posted thousands of scroll saw patterns. It would be very difficult for me to cut all of them so I have always simulated some/most of them.

The early simulated images were pretty bad. Recently I have switched to a program named Blender to render the images and it does a much better job. The learning curve is crazy difficult so it is taking me a while to get up to speed but I am slowly getting more confident with the software.

In the past, I sometimes needed to cut the project just to make sure everything fits the way I intended. Blender allows to me test fit with the 3D models. There will still be times when I need to test cut the project but those are less now.

A few of the emails have asked what species of wood I used. That makes me happy because that means they look pretty real. They also look too perfect sometimes because they are exact copies of the pattern. No cut mistakes. Hopefully, you can overlook that issue and realize mistakes are just part of the art. I make plenty of mistakes while cutting on the scroll saw.

Technical comments. Here is the basic process. I design the patterns in CorelDraw. They are flat vectors exactly what you see when you open the pattern. I export the flat vectors as SVG files.

I import the flat svg vectors into Blender. Blender allows me to extrude the flat vectors so they have a thickness. I then rotate and assemble the parts in Blender. I add a wood texture to all the parts and then render the final image.

Blender also allows me to create animation with the models. The compound cut animation above is one example. These files can get pretty large so I try to use them sparingly.

I wanted to share this information to help answer some of the questions.
