A couple of weeks ago we installed a hummingbird feeder on our back deck. When I took my dog outside yesterday, I saw the first hummingbird drink from the feeder. They have to be one of the most amazing animals in the world. It looks like magic watching them hover.
That gave me the inspiration for this pattern. I wanted to make it large enough to be showcased on a wall. The backer board is 17" wide and 10" tall. I'm not sure how to define this style of pattern but it is similar to segmentation only the pieces do not touch.
You can cut the pieces from any thickness of wood. There are only two interior cuts but 104 pieces.
You have the option to paint or stain the pieces. You could also use different species of wood similar
to intarsia.
If you want to add a little depth then cut the parts from different thicknesses of wood and sand contour them.
