This box is 8" wide and 5" deep. It is cut from 1/4" thick wood. You can add the optional interior walls or leave the fretwork open.
Paint or flock the interior walls to add some color.

Paul from the Paulsmessyworkshop YouTube channel demonstrates how to paint fretwork.

Fretwork can be difficult to paint or stain. It is tough to get into all the small openings with a brush. In this video from a few years ago, Paul shows how he paints fretwork the easy way. This can also be applied to staining the fretwork also. This is the method I use when I need to stain a project.

Paul is a long-time friend and has lots of interesting videos on his channel. Please take a minute to hit the thumbs-up button and subscribe to his channel after you watch the video.

Delta 40-694 is finally back to a decent price on Amazon

Not long after the pandemic started the price of the Delta 40-694 scroll saw nearly doubled. It was my understanding that they were having difficulty getting the saws shipped from overseas. I had purchased one for $299 with the intention of doing a video review. The price hike made me rethink the video so it never happened. $600 was just too high for this saw.

I noticed today that the price has dropped to $383.40. That price is reasonable for a saw of this quality. The Delta 40-694 is in line with the DeWalt DW788 and the WEN LL2156. The DeWalt is going for $399 and the WEN is $362.85. The quality of all three of these saws is what I call mid-level. They are a big step up from any of the entry-level saws but don't quite have the quality build of the high-end saws. The good news is that they are less than half the cost of high-end saws.

If you currently have an entry-level saw, any of these three machines will be worth your consideration for an upgrade. I'm just happy to see that Delta was able to get the price back in line. I hope they can keep it there because we need choices.
