Kitchen Utensil Basket Scroll Saw Pattern.

I intentionally designed this basket tall so it could hold wooden kitchen utensils. You can easily adjust the height by cutting sewer rings or changing the thickness of the rings. As designed, the basket without the handle is 6.5" tall. That is eight 3/4" thick rings and the top and bottom 1/4" thick.

The rings are 7" in diameter so the rings alone will take at least a 60" board. You could also cut this from Baltic birch plywood if you like that end-grain effect.

Personal Stuff: Great Father's Day

We spent Father's Day out at my daughter's property. They live on seven acres with a pond and a beautiful forested area. Kellie made my favorite meatloaf, potatoes, corn pudding, and green beans. It was absolutely delicious. She really is a good cook.

I have wanted a Bonsai tree for years and just never took the time to buy one. Kellie and Shane surprised me with a beautiful Bonsai. I am terrible at receiving gifts. When someone does something so nice for me I tend to tear up. Yep, the tears started but I fought them back. The older I get the easier the tears flow.

In the afternoon, Kellie, Annie(my wife's sister), and I went for a short nature walk. Annie has considerable knowledge about plants so we discussed all the wildflowers on the property. That was about as much fun as I have had in quite some time. I learned a lot.

As it got later we moved over to the fire pit to sit with a cool drink and talk. The frogs were just starting to come out and the fish were jumping on the pond. They have several species of birds on the property but one of my favorites is the red-winged blackbird. Not only are they beautiful but their songs are pleasant.

Off in the not-too-distant, back in the woods, we could hear a deer grunting and stomping. For a guy who has spent his whole life in a city these sights and sounds are a real treat.

I do not think that I could have had a better Father's Day. I was with the people I care the most about. I had a great meal and relaxed outdoors. I truly hope you had as nice of a day as I did.

Thanks, Kellie and Shane. I love you guys a bunch.
