This waving US flag comes in two sizes. The small pattern uses 1/2" thick wood and is 10.25" long. The large pattern is over 15" long and is cut from 3/4" thick wood.
Important Tip:
The size of the star field is determined by the thickness of the wood you use. If your wood is not 1/2" or 3/4" thick then the starfield will be midsized. Cut the stripes first then measure and cut the starfield. Then you can apply the starfield pattern to the measured piece and cut the stars.
After you cut and glue the stripes together you will have ridges. Sand the flag smooth for a nicer appearance.
When you paint the flag I would use a wash so the grain of the wood is still visible. Paint the piece before you glue them together. Consider leaving some bare wood between the pieces for better glue joints.
