This Doggy pull toy is 10.25" long and a little over 5.5" wide, All the parts are 1/2" thick except the ears which are 1/4" thick. I am showing the pull toy with a pull stick but it will be easier to substitute twine or thin rope. The axles are 1/2" diameter wooden dowels.

The NOEL Animals pattern is cut from 3/4" thick wood.

Magnifying Lamp for scroll saw cutting.

Some scrollers use a lighted magnifying glass to see the cut line better. They also provide a nice light that can be positioned for good illumination of your work. I have one on all of my scroll saws. I use the light 100% of the time but I only use the magnifier when cutting coins or very small fretwork.

The ones I am going to speak about here are not all-inclusive. These are just the ones I have tried and used.

Here are a few things to look for:

Do you want LED lighting or fluorescent? I have both and to be honest I don't have a preference. The LED lights are generally a whiter light but the fluorescent one I have does not have much of a yellow cast.

You want a large lens for a good area of view. You don't want the lens to have a lot of edge distortion. Some are terrible. A little edge distortion is not too big of a deal because you are generally focused in the center of the lens.

You do not want a lot of magnification. 1.75x to 3X is good.

You want the arms to stay in the position you put them in. I had one that slipped when the saw was running. I had to reposition every few minutes. Not good.

Here is the list of the ones I recommend. They are pictured above in the order I list.

Harbor Freight  $39.99. This light is so inexpensive that you may think it has poor quality. I will admit that compared to the next two it is not as well made but it is not bad. If you can't afford the higher quality lamps then this one will do okay. There is more edge distortion than the others here and it uses fluorescent lighting. I own three of these lamps and they have lasted for years. I have replaced the fluorescent bulb once or twice. The lens is also not as clear as the next two. It is just slightly fuzzy. If you have vision problems then this one might cause some trouble for you. I have also broken the protective lens cover off of all of them.

Seyco $119. The Seyco light uses 60 LED lights and the brightness is excellent. The quality is great. The description says it has 3x magnification but that may be a typo. I think it is 1.75x. Don't take my word for that but whatever it is the view through the lens is outstanding. All the pivot points on the arm hold well.

Bear Woods  $116.50. This one has 90 LEDs and 1.75x magnification. The quality is superb. The lens has very low distortion. The arm says solidly in place. Nothing to complain about with this lamp.
