This is a large pattern. It is over 13" wide. The pattern requires 1/4" thick wood. You may want to use plywood for this project. In the rendered image I am showing the backer board painted blue. That seemed appropriate.

The second pattern today is a 3d Butterfly. The pattern calls for 1/4" thick wood. The wings are 10" long. You want to ensure the slots are cut for a snug fit. CA glue will make assembly much easier.

If you reduce the butterfly pattern by 50%, you can use 1/8" acrylic and your laser cutter to make a transparent butterfly. Remember that not all diode laser-cut clear acrylic. You may be able to cut this with your scroll saw at 50% but it will ba a challenge.

Years ago our family went on a cruise to the Western Caribbean. We left from Miami and one of the stops was the Grand Cayman island. One of the excursions was a stop at the Cayman Turtle Center. It was amazing how large some of the sea turtles were. I also learned that sea turtles can live up to 100 years old. That is if they can last the first few days. Only about 1 in 1,000 hatchlings live to adulthood. Sea birds feast on them when they are small. Nice long life but the odds are against them.
