This pattern may seem odd, but for me, it is about the symbology of how much we love all the children in our family. Patty and I have a daughter. She is grown now and a beautiful, loving, and caring young lady. She is a person who is just as happy helping others as she is helping herself. Patty and I love our daughter with all of our hearts. We are lucky enough to live close to our daughter and her husband so we can see them often.
Many species of birds have strong parenting behaviors. They will work almost to the point of death to protect their young. They also show similar signs of grief as humans when they lose a child. Their posture droops and some even perform what we call a funeral. Crows will walk in circles around a dead bird for several minutes before leaving it. Of course, other animals, like elephants have a devotion to their young that may be even stronger than humans.
So, in my mind, I wanted to make a pattern that shows how much we love our daughter. This pattern came out and even though the symbology may be difficult to see, it worked for me. She loves nature and we love her.
I know that many of you feel the same about your children. I hope you also have the opportunity to spend time with them. So often today, work, school, and life events cause families to move far apart. If that is you then take the time to call the child, even if it is just to say Love You.
The bee pattern does not have the same symbology as the birds for me but you can add it to your garden or indoor plant area. He is cut from 1.4" thick wood.
