1957 Chevy Dragster plus Christmas Nutcracker Scroll Saw Patterns

Second Pattern Today

1957 was the year I was born. The 1957 Chevy with its big rear fins is the best-looking car ever. The 1955 Chevy Bel Air comes in a close second. I might be a little biased, though.

The Chevy is 10" long and cut from 1/2" thick wood.

The Nutcracker is 10" tall, and the pattern calls for 1/4" and 1/2" thick wood.

A Christmas Nutcracker is one of those classic holiday decorations you see just about everywhere around the season. They’re usually little wooden figures dressed up like soldiers, kings, or other festive characters. Back in the day, some of them could actually crack nuts, but these days they’re mostly just for show. Thanks to the famous ballet The Nutcracker, they’ve become a big part of the Christmas tradition. People say they bring good luck and even help keep away bad spirits, but most folks just love how cheerful and festive they look sitting on a shelf or by the tree.

I have two patterns for you today. I said I would take a break from holiday patterns, but then this scarecrow happened. I could not help myself.๐Ÿ˜„

The Wide Blow pattern is 10" wide and 6.5" front to back, and it is just over 5.5" tall. The front and back walls are 1/4" thick, and then there are eight 3/4" thick layers that make up the middle.

This bowl is large enough for several items as a serving bowl. Bread and other dry items will work fine.
I am showing the flower design on the front and back, but to save a bit of time, it should be fine with only placing them on the front.

This Scarecrow pattern comes in two sizes. The small pattern is 5" wide, and the large pattern is 8" wide. The small pattern will work fine as a Halloween cake decoration, and the large pattern can be placed in a flower pot or outside.

The Scarecrow pattern includes 1/8" thick wood for some parts. 1/8" can be difficult to cut because it provides so little resistance to the blade. It is easy to allow the blade to run away from you when reaching a turn. When I am cutting 1/8" wood, I almost always stack cut at least two boards. This makes the cut a 1/4" cut and gives much better resistance to the blade. Even if I just throw the extra part away, I consider that part of the process. It's even better when you need two of the parts.

Stormy Seas plus a Small Serving Bowl Scroll Saw Pattern

Second Pattern Today

Add cloth napkins, and the small bowl becomes useful.

The Storm on the Seas Pattern is ten inches tall and four 1/4" thick layers. It is a little on the abstract art side, but I like the pattern.

The top of the small bowl is 6" wide. All the parts are 1/4" thick. You could serve some small fruits in the bowl or line it with cloth napkins and serve smaller items.

 A Caricature of me.

I know many of you do not know what I look like, but this caricature pastel painting is me. Yes, I am that ugly. I created this art using AI. I found a prompt that gives me pretty reliable results as long as the original image is decent. They are created to look like pastel stick paintings. These were created by uploading a photo of the person and telling AI to turn it into a caricature.

No real reason to show you these, I am just a big nerd and found them cool, so I posted them. You do have to admit that artists, pattern designers, and others could have something to worry about when/if these systems continue to improve. I can see AI spitting out hundreds of unique scroll saw patterns a day. I am kind of glad that I'm old. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Here are a couple more celebrities that I created.
