More than you ever needed to know about roosters
Size: Roosters are larger than hens, and can be up to 30 inches tall.
Color: Roosters are usually more brightly colored than hens.
Combs and wattles: Roosters have fleshy combs on their heads and lobed wattles hanging below their
bills. These are used for temperature regulation.
Spurs: Roosters have spurs on the back of their legs that they use for defense.
Crowing: Roosters crow at any time of day, not just in the morning. They crow when they feel their power is threatened, such as when you enter the coop, when a car starts up, or when another rooster crows.
Lifespan: Roosters typically live 5–8 years, but can sometimes live longer than hens because they don't have the strain of egg production.
Behavior: Roosters are more violent than hens when they fight. They are also the flock protectors, and often put themselves in risky situations to protect their flock.
Intelligence: Roosters and chickens can distinguish quantities, simple ordinality, and arithmetic operations of up to five objects.
Social order: Roosters and chickens have a sense of social order and a pecking order.
Alertness: Roosters are constantly alert, watching the ground and sky for predators. When they spot something, they sound the alarm and guide the hens and chicks to safety.

The Welcome Sign is 14.6" wide. You can use any thickness of wood you like but the pattern calls for 1/4" for the front layer and 1/2" for the backer board.
