The Oh Holy Night Pattern is 10" in diameter. There are two 1/4" thick layers. I designed it to be hung on your front door, but that is only a suggestion.

The flag pattern is 10" long and cut from two layers of 1/4" thick wood. The front layer is actually made up of two parts. The blue starfield and the red stripes are separate pieces to make them easier to paint.

Safety Checklist

In the past 18 years that I have written this blog, I have received several emails telling me that a fire destroyed a reader's workshop. In one case, the person lost their home to a garage workshop fire. Even personal injury accidents can be devastating in some cases.

A safety checklist in a woodworking workshop is essential because it keeps you aware of potential hazards before they turn into serious accidents. With so many tools, electrical connections, and flammable materials in one place, even a small oversight can lead to injury or fire. A checklist serves as a routine reminder to inspect cords, blades, dust systems, and safety gear so nothing gets ignored. It also helps build good habits—checking off items each day reinforces safe practices and keeps the workspace organized. Simply put, a safety checklist protects you, your equipment, and your shop investment, making sure every project starts and ends safely.

This list is not comprehensive, but it will help get you in the habit of spending a few minutes extra in your shop to be safety-conscious. Download and print it to hang by the door of your shop. Demand of yourself that you do a check after every shop visit. Your family, you, and your tools will be safer with this effort.

🔥 Fire Safety Checklist

Electrical & Tools

  • ☐ Inspect all cords, plugs, and outlets weekly for frays or loose connections

  • ☐ Avoid overloading circuits and power strips

  • ☐ Unplug power tools when not in use

  • ☐ Keep extension cords short and heavy-duty (rated for shop use)

  • ☐ Store flammable finishes, oils, and solvents in metal safety cabinets

Dust & Ventilation

  • ☐ Clean dust collection filters and hoses regularly

  • ☐ Empty sawdust bags and bins daily

  • ☐ Use grounded hoses and metal ducts to prevent static sparks

  • ☐ Keep good airflow — dust + spark = fire hazard

Finishing & Chemicals

  • ☐ Store rags soaked with oil or finish in sealed metal containers

  • ☐ Never toss oily rags in a regular trash can

  • ☐ Label all chemical containers

  • ☐ Keep a class ABC fire extinguisher within 25 feet of any work area

  • ☐ Know where your main power shutoff is located

  • ☐ Use guards, fences, and push sticks on saws

  • ☐ Unplug tools before blade or bit changes

  • ☐ Check blade and bit tightness before powering up

Workspace

  • ☐ Keep the floor clear of cords, scraps, and sawdust

  • ☐ Provide good lighting for every workstation

  • ☐ Mark safe walkways and exits

  • ☐ Store heavy tools low to the ground

  • ☐ Keep a first-aid kit easily accessible

🧯 Monthly Safety Tasks

  • ☐ Test fire extinguishers and replace if expired

Personalized Pet Ornaments Now Available to Order

READ: Very Important Information.
I am going to start with the ornaments for people. I will add the Pet ornaments later this week. Every year, I get backed up early, but I will do my best to get the order to you in less than a week. You do not pay until you have the order in your email. These are all shipped by email. No paper delivery.

The price is the same as every year. People = 5 ornaments minimum for $5, then $1 for each additional ornament. The order form will take 20 names, then if you need more, you will have to start another order.

Pet Ornaments have no minimum order, and the cost is $2 per name.

It is best to use the person's first name. Last names can be too long and very difficult to cut. I will do last names, but I just don't recommend them unless they are shorter names. Here is a sample download link for an ornament with a ten-letter last name. Test before you order.
