Great News. Sheila Landry has a new free pattern available on her site. She also ask me to pass along that her new 2014 Summer catalog is available.
I feel obligated in good conscious to tell you not to download Sheila's Summer catalog. Times are tough right now and money is tight. The kids need new shoes. The rent is due. The car needs a tuneup. If you download her catalog you can kiss all that money goodbye. There is something on every page of the catalog that you will have no choice but to buy once you go down that path.
Every turn of the page just makes it worse. Consider this fair warning. There are literally must buys on every page. I wore two pair of sunglasses writing this post just to keep from spending my daughter's college tuition. The Racoons on page 3, the self framing plaques on page 5, the candle trays on page 8, the word art and Christmas ornaments on pages 11 and 12 are all way to good to pass on.
Just give up. The temptations are far to great to resist. Dig up one of those mason jars full of money in the back yard and buy these patterns. Shoes for the kids are way over rated anyway. Today's kids are soft I say. Make them tough. We walked 7 miles barefoot in the snow up hill to school when we were kids.
One more thing then I'll shut up. Think about this. On page 5 of Sheila's catalog. Look at SLD125. It's an 8 X 10 Hummingbird plaque. The cost is $5.95.
Let's say you go right now and buy that pattern. This weekend you have some free time so you go to the shop and start cutting the pattern. The radio is playing your favorite music. You are in front of your saw doing what you love to do wishing you could quit your day job and do this full time. You are totally relaxed and enjoying every minute. Maybe it takes you most of the day on and off to finish the project.
That evening it's all finished up so you take it in the living room and give it to your wife. She loves it and thinks to herself what a great guy you are for thinking about her. She cooks you favorite dinner and even let's you pick what to watch on the television that night.
The next morning she calls her girlfriend and tells her about this beautiful present you spent all day making just for her. She goes on and on about what a caring husband you have been lately.
Her girlfriend makes certain to tell her husband how thoughtful you are and how he never does anything nice for her. This is the same guy who borrowed you favorite DeWalt cordless 20v drill and broke it. He get's hot dogs for dinner.
Now if you don't think all that is worth $5.95 I just can't help you at all.......
In all seriousness, go support Sheila. She is a valuable resource to our community. There are only a few people in the world who can put out the quality of patterns she does. Treasures have to be protected. Sheila is a treasure and you can protect her by buying her patterns.
