The original graphic for this pattern is from vectorportal.com. I modified it for cutting on the scroll saw.

The orders are flying in and crawling out.  I'm guessing there were about 5 days worth of orders today. I'll work as quickly as possible to get the patterns back out to everyone. Thanks for the orders.

Dovetail Joints on the Scroll Saw with Bob Brokaw.

Below is a nice video from the Gwinette Woodworkers scroll saw meeting. Bob Brokaw shows a technique to cut dovetail joints on the scroll saw. This technique has been around a while but I think Bob demonstrates it better than I have seen it in the past. This is another strong technique to put in your tool belt. Take a few minutes to check it out.

Switch Plate Surrounds Scroll Saw Pattern.

There are a few different random switch plate surrounds in this pattern book. Make sure you have the Adobe Reader print dialog set to "Actual Size" before you hit print. You may also want to measure your switch plate before you cut the pattern. Some covers vary in size slightly.

Christmas Themed Acrylic LED Display Scroll Saw Pattern.

Here is a fun project. The patter uses acrylic sheets and an battery powered LED puck light. Let me say that I took this idea from a CNC forumn and made my own pattern for the scroll saw. On the CNC version the pattern in the acrylic is just etched. In the scroll saw version we cut through the acrylic. If you wanted to simulate the CNC version you could etch the acrylic with a dremel too.

Another option would to be to use real glass cut in 5" X 5" sheets and use glass etching creme with stencils. I have a CNC machine which I used to make an etched version and it shows up a little better.

The reason the box is made from two pieces is because the slit is shorter on the bottom to give the acrylic a ledge to sit on. It is critical the slit in the top and bottom line up when you glue the pieces together.

If you cut the slit accurately enough the acrylic will fit snugly and can be replaced with different designs. I include 5 designs in the pattern book.

The green tint in the is because the acrylic I used did have a green tint.

Don't let that put you off because the scroll saw version looks really good also. If you are good with pattern making these would make great personalized gifts.

Below is a picture of the 3 pack of puck lights I used for the project.

A project for your favorite Veterinarian. Pictures from a reader. Live video Stream. Wow, lot's going on!

Many scrollers like to make projects to give as gifts to people who they value. I get requests for doctor, nurse, police, military and more. The one that I get more requests for than just about any other is for their veterinarian. All us pet owners know how important our animals are to us. Because of this our veterinarian is one person we value a lot. Cut this plaque and give it to your vet the next visit.

______________
I wanted to share a story and some pictures from a reader. A few weeks ago Preston Strassner was ask by his good friend to build a special project. This friends grandfather was gravely ill and not expected to live much longer. His grandfather was an Air Force vet. He had requested that he be cremated. The burial place was four hours away. The friend ask Preston if he could build a burial box for their beloved grandfather. The box would be used to transport the remains and burial. Of course Preston was honored to be ask for such a special gift.

I am proud that Preston brought up my online catalog and let his friend chooses an emblem for the box. The pictures below show the box. You can see the love Preston put into this project. Of course the family was very happy with the gift. They called Preston after the funeral to let him know that their grandfather would be honored to have such a wonderful resting place.

Great job Preston.

I was ask to be part of live Google Hangout hosted on YouTube tonight. The show is called "Let's talk Shop with Russ". The show runs about an hour and we discuss basic scroll saw stuff and just have a good time. The audio is a bit rough at the start but it gets better if you can hang in there. If you have a few minutes to spare have a watch. Thanks for the invite Russ.

Halloween Haunted House Scroll Saw Pattern.

I just wanted to pass on some sad news to the scrolling community. Ernie Mellon, the inventor and builder of the Eclipse scroll saw recently passed away. Ernie was well know to the scrolling community. His machine was consider by many to be one of the best saws made. It was a professional quality saw with several unique features. I never met Ernie or used his machine but I know many of you have and I wanted to pass on the news to those who had not heard.

Pattern from Russ Claridy.

I was talking with Russ tonight on a Google hangout and he showed me a cutting he had finished. I asked if I could post the pattern and he said it would be fine. This is one you can cut for yourself and hang it in your shop. Thanks Russ.

Russ is a long time scroller and pattern designer. Some of you know him as the moderator of our Community forum. He recently started a Youtube show which he hosts every Saturday night live. I'll be a guest This Saturday night. (9/19/15). It called "Let's talk shop with Russ". Here is a link to Russ's YouTube channel if you want to check out his shows. I believe it starts at 830pm Easter standard time. I'll double check the and post it again before the show.

Speaking of YouTube shows. If you don't follow some of the woodworkers on YouTube you should do yourself a favor and check them out. Some of the shows are live and many are recorded for later viewing. These may not be the New Yankee Workshop but they are still lot's of fun to keep up with.

Support your local police department scroll saw pattern.

To all the men and women out their in law enforcement I want to say thank you. It has always been a tough job. It's important that in a time when the service is under intense scrutiny because of national attention that we remember that the vast majority of officers are good at what they do. Take the time to tell an officer you appreciate him/her.

Just take a minute and think about this fact. A law enforcement officer dies in the line of duty on average every 60 hours in the United States. Does that sound like a job you want to line up to do?

Is there corruption in Law enforcement? Yep. Are they in the vast minority? Yep. Should the corruption be punished? Yep. Should the good officers be punished for what a few bad officers do? Nope. Should we appreciate the officers who do a good job. Hell yes. I can't do their job. I would not last two hours. Would you?

This eight inch plaque is my thank you to all the folks working in our local police departments and their families. Without you society would crumble. How important is that?
