I have used multiple thicknesses of wood for this project. The body is 1" thick. The top is 1/2" thick as is the bottom. The extra piece on the bottom is 1/4" thick as is the columns. The fleur-de-lis is cut from 1/8" thick contrasting wood.
The wood I used for this clock is Peruvian Walnut and Maple.
