Give dad a thumbs up for Father's Day. Giveaway winner selected!

Sunday, June 19 is Father's Day.  I lost my dad when I was just 10 years old. I miss him. I will be thinking of him this Father's Day. If you still have your father in your life give him a thumbs up.

Announcing the Giveaway Winner.

George Morley was the winner of the giveaway for one gross of Flying Dutchman blades. I have sent an email to George and awaiting a reply. The keyword for the giveaway was "sharp". George sent the keyword to the correct email address given in the Simply Wooden Creations live stream. Congratulations George.

Final Blade Removal Tool Update?

I had so much response from the Blade removal tool pattern that I thought I would do a final update. The update includes a few new features.

The pattern has been updated to reflect these features. The business end of the tool had been reduced in size, indexing tabs added and installed on both ends.

Watch the video below to see why these changes were made.

Blade Removal Tool Update.

I'm the kind of guy that if something takes 3 seconds and I can do it in 2 seconds I consider that a win. Three different readers sent me a tip about the blade removal tool I posted yesterday. They suggested marking both ends of the slot so the tool can be easily aligned with the thumb screw.

I just went out in the shop and gave it a try. It works great. By my calculations. If I save 1 second per usage and if I live another 20 years(fingers crossed) and I use this tool on average 10 times a day. I just saved 20.3 hours. If my time is worth $30 per hour I can buy a new DeWalt DW788 scroll saw in 20 years. I'm estimating the the expense of the ink used is .001 cents. That is a 61million percent increase on my investment. If I could get my retirement fund to do that I would be really happy.

Thanks for the tip guys.
