Fist Bump Scroll Saw Pattern.

http://www.stevedgood.com/estore/estore.html
This fist bump pattern is one of the few that I have designed to be painted. I am normally not a fan of paint because I like wood. This graphic just calls for paint.

It's funny how a trend that comes out of sports or urban culture can be taken up through all of our culture. I have seen more and more people forgoing the hand shake and fist bumping. Even medical professionals recommend the fist bump to decrease the spread of germs common with the hand shake. Not a bad deal. You get to look cool and have less colds. :)

Information: Seyco ST-21 Scroll Saw a few month later.

I am still receiving email asking about the Seyco ST-21 scroll saw I reviewed back in April 2017. So far there have been no surprises or disappointments. I have used the machine exclusively since I installed it.

I have heard and experienced one small issue. The air hose fitting was a little lose where it connected to the machine. The hose would sometimes move from the machine vibration. I was able to find a spot where it stays in place but I have hear that Seyco has a permanent fix available.  I have not ask them for the fix but I'll probably discuss it with them at the trade show in a couple of weeks form now.

I have really come to appreciate the large table. The magnetic table cover is another feature that I like. It stays smooth without any maintenance. I want the wood to move easily over the table. On most machines I would wax the table once every month or two. The ST-21 magnetic cover eliminates that and stays consistently slick. The cover has also held up well with not significant sings of wear. Time will tell on it's durability but they are easily replaced.

Because of the linage of the machine I expected it to cut well and it has done just that. The vibration has been minimal. The ST-21 runs smooth at all speed levels. Some scroll saws have what I call sweet spots where the vibration and speed align to show the least amount of vibration. Those machines make it hard to turn the speed all the way up. The Seyco will obviously vibrate more at top speed but it is still more than usable a max.

I have the front to back movement of the blade adjusted so the cut is not too aggressive. This does slow the cut rate slightly but it's great for accuracy. You never feel like the ST-21 is preventing you from making even the most intricate cuts. If your skill is capable of making a cut this machine will not prevent you from doing it.

To summarize, I am a big fan of the Seyco ST-21. It has everything I will ever need in a scroll saw. It's well made, cuts great and has great features. Is it for everyone? No probably not. It is a high end machine with a reasonable but high end price tag. If you are a serious hobbyist or have the budget this machine will not disappoint.   To watch my initial review of the Seyco ST-21 watch the video.
