This wildlife scene is 14 inches wide. There are four layers that are all 1/4" thick and stacked together. I made the second layer black so it would be easier to see in this simulation picture. You can just use any contrasting woods. You could also just cut the entire pattern from 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood and it would look fine. The layers will create shadows to help separate the layers.
