There is still time to get out in the shop and make a few Valentine projects for your sweetheart. This picture is a simulation of the finished project. I made the backer board a rose color just for an example. You could apply a wash of color to your backer board to get a similar effect.

It's been a while since I had the opportunity to post a video from the Gwinnett Woodworkers club meeting. Hans Meier is one of the club members who is a master craftsman with the scrollsaw and does a fantastic job. In this video Hans demonstrates a hot air balloon pattern from start to finish. After I build a project for the blog I often sit them on a set of shelves in my computer room. When I build a clock I install the clock insert and put a battery in it. The clock runs until the battery dies and I almost never replace the battery unless I give the clock away.
The three clocks in the picture were built literally years apart. They have set on the shelf since they were built with the original dead batteries still installed. These clocks have not run for years. Notice anything strange?
Each clock stopped at ten minutes after ten. I am not smart enough to calculate the odds of that happening but I'm sure they are pretty long.
You have to admit that is pretty strange. The good news is that the clock just above these tree is dead at a different time.
