Dad's Shop Scroll Saw Pattern.

This Dad's Shop sign is ~ 14 inches wide.

Quick Tip: Sharpen Your Scroll Saw Blade.

As you begin to cut more advanced scroll saw patterns you will run into the need for smaller interior entry holes. There are times when you need a drill bit that is slightly larger than the width of the blade. In the photo above I have a 1.4mm drill bit and a #5 blade that is 1.1mm wide.

This can make it difficult to push the blade through the hole, especially if you are a bottom feeder. To keep this from being a frustration you can sharpen the tip of the scroll saw blade. The sharpened tip will find the hole easier and usually slip right in.

It does not take much effort to sharpen the blade. I just use a sanding drum to sharpen the tip. You can use a file if you have that handy.

One caution, do not overheat the blade if you use a sanding drum or grinder wheel to sharpen the tip. You could make the blade brittle and cause it to break more easily.

We had breakfast in The Castle. Not Scroll Saw Related.

Patty and I spent a wonderful morning at The Kentucky Castle. We were celebrating our 39th anniversary so we made reservations to have breakfast in this beautiful hotel/restaurant.
The castle was built several decades ago as a home. Unfortunately, the couple divorced and the place stayed unused for many years. A couple of years ago it was finally purchased and turned into a hotel and restaurant.
We have driven by the castle for 40 years and never had an opportunity to see what was behind the walls. We were curious. We were greeted at the back gate and welcomed by the very friendly staff.
We both had a Belgium waffle. I had fresh fruit and a side a bacon. To say the food was good would be an understatement. It was excellent. The chef uses fresh locally grown ingredients as much as possible. I had a cherry jam that was made in house that was a real treat.

We went on a guided tour after breakfast that was interesting. The hotel has around 15 rooms for overnight stays. The four corner towers have all been converted to rooms for guest. The second floor of the main building has a few rooms. There is a ballroom for receptions and parties. The roof of the main building is available for events.

They have an onsite garden for fresh vegetables. They even have a bee colony to produce honey.

If you have an opportunity to pass through Kentucky you may enjoy a visit to The Kentucky Castle
