It does not get much simpler than this candle stand. 1/4" thick wood. No interior cuts and no glue.
I am a woodworker. I am a lover of wood. When I see wood used along with other items I see more beauty. It may be my opinion but I think this simple wooden candle stand takes a $2 candle and makes it something I am proud to display. I spent less than an hour on this project. It costs me maybe $4 to make(candle was on sale). I added a little beauty to the world for very little effort or money. That's why I love wood. That's why I am a woodworker.
Cut the slots accurately and you can assemble the stand without glue then knock it down for storage or shipping.
There are four patterns. Each pattern holds a different diameter candle jar. 2.5", 3", 3.5". and 4" diameter candle jars are ready to cut. Each size pattern also gets taller for better proportion.
A neat arrangement would be to make three of these stands of different sizes and display them together.
You could also use these stands for very small potted plants.
If you have a Meijer Store in your area, I found these 2.5" diameter scented candles on sale for $1.99 each. They are normally around $7. If you can find the candles this cheap you could build the stand for pennies and add the inexpensive candle for a nice gift or craft show product.
My love of woodworking:
I mentioned above that I love wood and woodworking. If you are taking the time to read this you probably agree that wood is a beautiful material to work with. Wood is a renewable resource if managed correctly. Unfortunately, many parts of the world are not managing their forests with the care needed.
This poor management along with forest fires and trade disputes cause the supply to go down and the cost to go up. It will be a very sad time when we can no longer build beautiful things from wood. We are already at a point where the prices are pushing some people out of the hobby. Furniture makers are hard hit by high lumber costs. Just try to buy or build a solid hardwood piece of furniture. Your checkbook better be able to handle big numbers.
As individuals, there are a couple of things we can do to help keep our lumber supplies available and cost-effective. Small things can have a big impact if millions of people get on board.
Support the political group who supports what you believe are good environmental policies. This is a touchy subject because opinion varies. Do a little research on illegal logging and poor forest management and make up your own mind what you believe. Then find out if you are voting for the people you feel best able to implement your beliefs.
Spread the word in your community of friends and fellow woodworkers. Big problems are never solved by politicians. It takes the people who are affected to stand up and demand better policies.
We can't fix all the problems. The poor areas of South America have a serious problem. They are trying to feed their family and survive. If illegal logging makes that happen it's tough to be judgemental. I have no idea how that gets solved. Right now the Amazon is on fire and that is not good for the people who depend on it so the problem will probably get worse before it gets better.

WEN 3410 3-Speed Remote-Controlled Air Filtration System (300/350/400 CFM)
This is the air filtration system I use in my shop. I have a small shop and this unit does a good job for me. Yes, you can build an filter from a box fan and furnace filter but will you have three speeds, low noise, remote control, and timer. Probably not and if you do it will probably cost more than this WEN unit.
I recently had a woodworker friend pass away. His death was partially blamed on years of breathing wood dust. He never wore a mask or filtered his air. He was old school. Old school made him sick. Don't take the chance. Wear a mask at the very least. Filter the air if you have the means.
- Circulate the air in a 400 square foot room up to 7.5 times per hour
- Three-speed operation flows air at a rate of 300, 350, or 400 cubic feet per minute
- Includes a 1-micron filter and a 5-micron pre-filter, both of which can be easily replaced
- Programmable timer automatically shuts unit off after set number of minutes
- Remote control allows users to set timer, change speed and power the unit on and off from up to 26 feet away
