Four Designs
I have talked about cutting paper before here at the Scrollsaw Workshop. The advantage of using the scroll saw for paper is that we can stack cut several sheets at a time. Each one of these ornaments takes four sheets of paper but you can still cut five to ten at a time.
If you have not seen my technique for stack cutting paper, here are the steps.
For these ornaments, cut two 1/8" sheets of BB ply 5" X 5". Cut four sheets of high-quality craft paper to the same dimensions. Multiply 4 X the number of ornaments if you want to cut more.
Sandwich the paper between the two sheets of ply. Wrap the stack in blue painters tape. Apply the pattern to the stack.
I used a #1 blade for this single ornament. The #1 gives nice clean edges on the paper. You may need to go to a larger blade if you cut several ornaments at once. Cut the project just like any other wood project.
Remove four sheets and fold them in half.
Glue all four folded sheets together to create the ornament.
I used a nail to poke the hole for the hanger.

They have me on the schedule for the demonstration at the show. I will be there with the group as they do the demonstration but I will just be there for support and questions. I was not sure I could make the show until the last minutes and did not prepare for a demonstration.

You can use last names on the ornaments if you like but remember that the more letters the more
difficult they are to cut. Ten letters and up gets pretty small. If you need to you can enlarge the patterns by 10% to make the interior cuts larger. No special characters are supported. I can get a hyphen in there but it looks odd. It has to connect the two letters so it does not just fall out.
