Minimalist Feather Art Scroll Saw Pattern.

Download Below

Sometimes art can be as simple as mimicking nature. I was experimenting here with a minimalistic art piece. All the separations in the feather are cut with the blade. This is pretty delicate cutting and you will need to support the piece with your fingers as you cut. I used 1/8" Baltic birch plywood. Cutting this from hardwood will be very difficult.

The center vein(rachis) is cut separately and applied to the feather. The rachis and the edges of the feather are both sanded to a taper to give the feather a more delicate look. Careful sanding is required.

I painted the backer board black and framed it with maple. I only include the plans for the feather. You can custom build the frame. I used a butt joint frame to keep things simple.

I just bought the WEN portable oscillating spindle sander: Will I like it?

This is not a review. I have this portable oscillating spindle sander on order. I should receive it tomorrow. This thing gets good reviews and only costs $54.99 on Amazon.

The one thing I can never have enough of are sanders. Sanders make me happy because I hate sanding by hand. I have all kinds of sanders and adding one more at this price was a no brainer for me. We will see if that holds true after I play with it for a while. I'll let you know how it goes.

I have a full-size oscillating spindle sander but I like the idea of this being portable. It also comes with clamps to mount it to a workbench. They don't look overly sturdy but I'm sure I can fix that if they don't work well. I am thinking about building a box to mount it in so it has a larger table. I'll make it easy to remove so it stays portable.

The unit also has a dust collection port which is great for a tool that generates this much dust.

Personalized Christmas Ornament Patterns:

I am still making good progress on ornament patterns. I should be able to get caught up today. If you have orders in the queue, keep your eye on your email inbox.

The price is $1 per name with a 5 name minimum. I keep the price as low as possible
because I want everyone to have a chance to make these ornaments for family and friends.

You only pay after you have received the order and are
100% satisfied with the patterns. Invoice included with
the pattern email. Pay by credit card(secure Paypal), check, or cash.

The patterns will be emailed to you after they are completed.
Please allow up to a week for delivery.

You can use last names on the ornaments if you like but remember that the more letters the more
difficult they are to cut. Ten letters and up gets pretty small. If you need to you can enlarge the patterns by 10% to make the interior cuts larger. No special characters are supported. I can get a hyphen in there but it looks odd. It has to connect the two letters so it does not just fall out.

$12 per sheet of 12 coins plus $3.50 shipping
Inlay with a 1" Forstner Bit.
The perfect way to sign your work.
