Four Compound Cut Ornament Scroll Saw Patterns.

 Download Below

This pattern book has four ornaments of the same style. Each pattern has a different middle design.

I received an email from a reader who is new to the scroll saw. She wanted to know what a compound cut scroll saw project was. This is a very basic compound cut pattern to show how they are made.

As a side note, I used red cedar for this ornament. It cuts really well for compound cut patterns. 1.5" thick cuts as easily as 1/2" walnut. It is pretty soft and will break a bit easier so you have to be careful with the finished project.

For this pattern, you need a block of wood that is 1.5" X 1.5" X 3.5".

Wrap the block in blue painters tape.

Apply the pattern around two sides of the block. Fold at the centerline.

Drill your starter holes as shown above.

I like to use a clamp jig to hold the block. This gives you more to hold on to and keeps the waste pieces in place when you cut the second side.

Cut the first side of the pattern.

Remove the block from the clamp and flip it to the second side of the pattern.

Cut the second side.

Remove the waste pieces to free the ornament.

Now you can finish the ornament and drill the hole for the hanger.

Delta 40-694 back down to $299 on Amazon:

I actually did not think we would see this price again until after Christmas. As of 4:25am, 11/20/2019 the Amazon price is $299 for this scroll saw. If you are currently using an entry-level scroll saw and would like to move up with a modest investment, this saw is a good choice.

The Delta 40-694 has all the mid-level features at close to an entry-level price. Easy blade change, upfront controls, variable speed, air blower, and low vibration.

There is no such thing as a perfect scroll saw but for the price this rates really well. This saw is a major upgrade from the $100 to $200 saws.

I monitor the Amazon price for this saw and like to pass it along when the price hits its low mark. The $299 price never lasts very long. It will typically jump back up to between $350 and $400 in a couple of days. Here is the running price chart. You can see that it never stays at $299 for very long.

Personalized Christmas Ornament Patterns:

I am still making good progress on ornament patterns. I should be able to get caught up today. If you have orders in the queue, keep your eye on your email inbox.

The price is $1 per name with a 5 name minimum. I keep the price as low as possible
because I want everyone to have a chance to make these ornaments for family and friends.

You only pay after you have received the order and are
100% satisfied with the patterns. Invoice included with
the pattern email. Pay by credit card(secure Paypal), check, or cash.

The patterns will be emailed to you after they are completed.
Please allow up to a week for delivery.

You can use last names on the ornaments if you like but remember that the more letters the more
difficult they are to cut. Ten letters and up gets pretty small. If you need to you can enlarge the patterns by 10% to make the interior cuts larger. No special characters are supported. I can get a hyphen in there but it looks odd. It has to connect the two letters so it does not just fall out.
