Paint is an alternative finish.

The estimated monthly number of Americans who consume wine is 77 million. Believe it or not, that is a decline of 10 million over just the last few years. It is thought that a more health-conscious American is just drinking less alcohol. There has also been growth in craft beer which may be taking some of the wine drinkers away.

Before you start feeling sorry for the wineries consider that the US is the largest wine-consuming country in the world. An estimated 408 million cases of wine were sold in 2018.

Wine drinkers are 56 percent women and 44 percent men. The per capita consumption in the US is a relatively low  2.94 gallons. That is much lower than many countries.

Making craft or art for such a large segment of potential customers is just smart business. Almost any place that you hawk your goods will have wine drinkers who may enjoy your work.

This pattern is two layers. It is 8" wide and 9" tall. I recommend 1/4" thick wood but that is just a suggestion. The project could easily be cut from 3/4" thick wood with no backer board.

Pegas 21" Scroll Saw

Guys, the availability of some of the nicer scroll saws has been low lately. There are a lot of factors causing the backorders but the deal is that you need to order as soon as possible if you are in the market.

When the shipment arrives and clears customs those saws are usually already sold out and you have to wait for the next shipment. For most of you, the delay is not critical but for some who earn a living with their saw, it can get tight. Don't wait to hear that the shipment has arrived. Get on the list.

Pegas Scroll Saw - 21 Inch with Raising Arm and the Pegas Blade Clamps

Shipping in April 2021 - Reserve yours today as each shipment from the factory is selling out before it arrives.

21″ Throat Depth, Upper Arm Raises, Proven Motor and Linkage. PLUS the game-changing Pegas Chuck Head that has helped so many saws improve.

Pegas® Scroll Saws are high-precision tools, which with a minimum amount of maintenance, will provide reliable service and great satisfaction for many years.
This scroll saw is developed in Switzerland - made in Taiwan to the rigorous specifications and quality requirements of Pegas.

The Pegas Scroll Saw - Why is it better?

While it’s made in the same factory in Taiwan where the Excalibur scroll saw used to be made, Pegas has added Swiss precision and engineering to their scroll saw. Let’s start with a beefed up chassis featuring a reinforced web in the connecting rod and vertical rocker and needle bearings pressed into the rocker arm as opposed to a sleeve and bolt connection that is prone to wear and failure. Next, the saw comes with the revolutionary Pegas Blade Chuck Heads installed (a $90 value).
These precision-machined blade clamps, manufactured from aircraft-grade aluminum, can be adjusted easily to grip blades better than any other clamp on the market, and weigh less to reduce wear on your machine. Finally, the table boasts a thick, scratch-resistant coating that prevents corrosion and make the wood slide easier. The saw still boasts the precision rack-and-pinion system that tilts the saw head to make angled cuts (instead of tilting the table). It tilts a full 45-degrees to the right, and 35-degrees to the left (because of the dust collection port). It also positions all of the primary controls (speed, power, and blade tension) at the front of the top saw arm. A stand and foot switch are available.
