Warning. I am not an expert on toy safety. I know that this puzzle has small parts. Please research toy safety for appropriate age groups for toys with small parts.
This Noah's Ark Puzzle comes in two sizes. The small puzzle is 10.25" wide. The large puzzle pattern is almost 15" wide.

It is best to stack cut the front and pack layer so the pieces are a match. Before you drill the interior holes cut the exterior of the puzzle and backer board.

Separate and remove the backer board. Keep the pattern on the puzzle board and drill the interior holes.

Cut the fingers holes and discard the waste. Not cut the animal shapes. Use a larger blade if you want a loose-fitting puzzle. This is usually easier for younger children.

Glue the backer board to the puzzle board. Sand all the edges well to round them over.

I kept the puzzle natural with just a spray acrylic finish. You may want to consider painting. Just make sure it is a child-safe paint.

What is the Best Scroll Saw?

It is a trick question. There is no one best scroll saw for everyone. The best scroll saw for you may be different from the best saw for the other guy. It depends on a few factors.

Let's start with the big factor. Price. Very few new scrollers start out with a $1,000 plus scroll saw. It would be nice, but it is difficult to throw that kind of money into a tool that you may not know you will enjoy/use. I started with a $150 Craftsman scroll saw many years ago. I used it for a couple of years and enjoyed the projects that I made. It was not the easiest saw to use but it got me started in the hobby.

As time went by I started to use the scroll saw more and finally wanted to upgrade. I moved to the DeWalt and realized how much easier it was to use. I was hooked. If you can start with a more expensive saw that's fine. If not then some of the less expensive saws will get your feet wet. Of course, as I started the blog for the Scrollsaw Workshop I acquired several saws. They are all slightly different. It would be difficult for me to pick a favorite. If I did I would probably change my mind often.

If you are going to use the scroll saw for the occasional curved cut for furniture projects your needs will be different from the person cutting intricate fretwork. Using a $100 Harbor Freight scroll saw for very intricate cuts can be done but you may not enjoy it very much. It is just a fact that the better quality saws cut better and are easier to use.

Of the seven saws that I own, there is only one that I would be frustrated with as and everyday saw. That does not mean I could not use it, I would just have to readjust my priorities and expectations.

I have used all of the mid-level and high-end scroll saws. They are all really nice to use. I have used several of the entry-level scroll saws. They may not last for years and they will cause some frustration but most of them will allow you to make fun projects.

I try my best to answer beginner-level emails. Many of them are asking which saw to buy. I can't always tell you which saw to buy but I can give what I think are the pros and cons of many models. If you need help send me an email. It is helpful if you make the title show that you are just getting started. I will do my best to send you an answer.

DataVac Computer Cleaner / Computer Duster Super Powerful Electronic Dust Blower Environmentally Friendly Alternative to Compressed Air or Canned Air

This is a tool that I use every time I am in my shop. It is basically a replacement for expensive canned air. The duster plugs into 110vac and will blow your socks off. The air stream is very powerful. I use it to blow the sawdust off of myself before I go back into the house. I use it to clean the dust off of projects before I apply a finish. It is even powerful enough to blow out the dust from the shop. I open the door, put on a mask, and blow the dust out the door.

The DataVac Duster is not cheap. The price is currently $90.99. I use it so much that I feel like that is a good value for me.
