This may be a project that you will want to add color to. You could use different species of wood, stain, or paint. I used 1/8" thick BB plywood but you could probably get away with 1/4" also. I used a 1/8" wooden dowel for the body. I sanded the bottom of the body flat to give a better glue surface.
When I designed this I had the intention of the piece being hung on a wall. I made the flower pot thicker so there would be a shadow effect behind the flower.
Stumpy Nubs Small Part Router Jig:
This small part router table handling jig looks complicated but James says it is easy to build. I wanted to pass this along because as scrollers we make a lot of small parts. Running small parts on a router table involves safety concerns. This jig gets your hands well away from the cutter. It also makes the cuts more accurate.
My favorite part of Jame's jig is the tabs that enable you to use any router bit without bearings.
I think I will make a modified version of this jig for my new shop. Jame's is only asking $8 for the plans so I will get those then see what I want to change. I am just interested in the small parts holding features. The link to order the plans are in the description of the video.

Brand name lasers are expensive. In the past, you could save money with the imported Chinese lasers but the software and support were terrible. omtech is changing that. This large 60w laser is $2999.99. That is a fraction of what you would pay for the name brands. These lasers now come with the Ruida controller which allows the use of Lightburn software. Lightburn is awesome. I have one that is very similar to this one, just an older version. The quality will not match the high-end lasers but I'll be honest, it's not bad.
