In a few weeks it will be time to send Christmas cards. How about a holiday themed letter opener to open the ones you receive.
This letter opener is cut from maple. It is 1/4" thick. I sharpened the blade on my drum sander but you could do the same with a disc sander or rotary tool. You don't need to get it too sharp. You will make the tip fragile. The tip just needs to slide under the envelope flap. The edges of the blade also don't have to be too sharp.

I received tons of nice emails from you guys yesterday giving thoughts and prayers for Patty's speedy recovery. I'm sorry that I cannot answer each one but it would take all day. There were that many. I absolutely will read all of them and pass them along to Patty.
Patty made a bit of progress today. She was out of bed for about an hour in her recliner. She ate a small breakfast so those are good signs.
