NOTE: My rendered images of the projects can sometimes make them look larger than they are. This box is ~10.125" long, ~7.5" wide, and will hold objects up to 5" tall.

The box is cut from 1/4" thick wood. You can cut the optional lid. The interior walls are also optional if you want an open fretwork design.

This would be an expensive project to cut from a nice hardwood. Most folks are going to use plywood for this project unless it is for something special. Staining plywood can be a little challenging. Here is a YouTube video that shows some tips for staining birch plywood.

AD: It is so easy to overlook the health consequences of breathing the wood dust we produce. Everyone should take precautions when working in the shop. I'll be honest, I sometimes don't do what I preach. I know better but I get in a hurry and don't do what I should. I am trying to do better.

There are times when cleaning the shop that I stir up lots of extra dust. When I empty my dust collector or shop vac or cut MDF, it gets really dusty. For those jobs, I use the GVS Elipse P100 Dust Respirator. I have used a few respirators and this one feels comfortable enough that I will wear it without complaining.

I have owned this unit for a few years and the soft thermoplastic material has held up very well. It is also odorless which is something to consider when buying anything made from this type of material.

They advertise that the replaceable filters can last up to 5 years. Mine are not quite that old but I have not felt the need to replace them.

If you want to try a respirator then I think this is a good low-cost choice. I don't use a respirator when scrolling. I use a mask but the respirator is almost comfortable enough to wear for longer sessions.
