This basket pattern is eight inches in diameter and calls for 1/4" thick wood. It will require two sheets of plywood because I added a top rim and a round bottom. All the weave rings can be cut from a single 9" X 9" board.
The plane is just under ten inches long and is cut from different thicknesses of wood.

Rikon 22" Scroll Saw is now available.
I just got a message from a reader who mentioned that Rikon has recently released a new scroll saw. Unfortunately, I don't have any additional details beyond what's provided in the advertisement on Woodcraft's website. This new scroll saw is a 22" model with variable speed settings, and it appears to be a higher-quality offering compared to Rikon's previous entry-level scroll saws.
The price on the Woodcraft site is $549.99. Having more options is always a positive development, so this addition to the hobby is welcomed. I'll try to grab one and see how well it performs.
