I design scroll saw patterns almost every day. I have been doing this work for 17 years. When a day like yesterday happens I have learned to just get up and leave the job for a while. I had these two patterns on the computer yesterday for posting. They are both easy designs but I could not get them ready to post. I made error after error and just could not get them published.
Some of the errors were with the design and some were just doing silly things like losing the predesign and needing to start over. As soon as I started feeling the frustration I knew it was time to take a break.
When you are in the shop working on a project this is also a good process to follow. When you feel that frustration creep in, give it a break. I know that timelines can make it difficult but it is better than allowing the frustration to cause an injury. Worse yet, it is better than your spouse telling you, "If you are going to act like that then fix your own dinner". Does that sound like I have heard that before? 😂
