I have two somewhat random patterns for you today. Definitely no theme. I often get asked how I come up with ideas for patterns. That has changed over the years but is still one of the more difficult parts of my pattern-making. Very often that process takes longer than actually drawing the pattern.
I watch sites that have craft projects and get ideas from them. Sometimes an idea just pops into my head or someone mentions an idea to me. More recently I have used AI to get me started. Below is a typical request to AI. If you care to read it just click the image.
I can continue drilling with AI until I get enough information to start the pattern. In this example, I only drill down one layer but could continue asking for more details. I can even ask for a sample trivet. As you can see in the AI sample image below, the pattern is not good enough to make a trivet pattern but it will often give me just enough to get started.
So when you see me post two totally random patterns it is often because AI got me started.
