"Laughter is good for the soul." Scroll saw word art pattern.

Let this word art pattern remind you to spend some time every day to laugh.

Give this experiment a try for one day. When you get out of bed, laugh out loud. I'm not talking about a little fake laugh. Give it a big belly laugh. Your family will think you are crazy but if you do a good enough job they will laugh right along with you. It's like a yawn, it's hard to resist. Now as you go through your day remember to smile/laugh as often as possible. If someone pulls out in front of you in traffic just smile.  I know that one is hard but give it a try. Try to train yourself to smile instead of becoming agitated over small things. At the end of the day ask yourself if it was a good day. Odds are you will feel more relaxed and in good spirits. What can it hurt? give it a try.

Laughter is truly good for you. Here is an excerpt from the web site HelpGuide.org.

Laughter is good for your health

  • Laughter relaxes the whole body. A good, hearty laugh relieves physical tension and stress, leaving your muscles relaxed for up to 45 minutes after.
  • Laughter boosts the immune system. Laughter decreases stress hormones and increases immune cells and infection-fighting antibodies, thus improving your resistance to disease.
  • Laughter triggers the release of endorphins, the body’s natural feel-good chemicals. Endorphins promote an overall sense of well-being and can even temporarily relieve pain.
  • Laughter protects the heart. Laughter improves the function of blood vessels and increases blood flow, which can help protect your against a heart attack and other cardiovascular problems.
I'm no doctor but it seems obvious to me that it feels better to laugh than to frown. That does not mean we can always be happy but it's worth shooting for. In the famous words of Bobby McFerrin' "Don't worry be happy." Here is a video to help you get started.
