Ship in a Bottle Scroll Saw Pattern.

I have always enjoyed watching the builders of a ship in a bottle. The craft is meticulous, but it looks satisfying if you have patience. I am not sure I have that much patience, but I may give it a try someday.

My version is a little less intricate but still fun. The Ship in a Bottle pattern has five 1/4" thick layers. Each layer has a part of the scene, so it looks almost 3D.

This pattern does have several small interior cuts, so it may rise to the level of an intermediate-level pattern. I would suggest a #3 scroll reverse blade to make the cuts.

You do want to cut the exterior carefully also, or you will have a lot of sanding to smooth the ridges from the layers.

The bottle is 10.25" long and ends up 1.25" thick with all the layers.

Make your own Desk Name Pattern

Personalized gifts are always well-received. This app makes desk name plate patterns for you to cut on your scroll saw. I have written a similar app like this in the past, but I believe this one is easier to use and more compatible with printers.

Here are the steps to use the app.
1. Enter your name.
2. Press the generate pattern button. That is pretty much all you need.

The pattern prints in landscape mode, and at full size, is around ten inches long.

Here are some extra steps if you want to add more.

1. The left and right arrow keys zoom the pattern larger and smaller. If you want it smaller, then those are the keys to use.

2. The Ctrl + up/down arrow keys stretch the text taller and shorter while keeping the length the same.

3. The up/down arrow keys move the text up and down is you need to adjust the depth of the text on the base.

IMPORTANT: As always, there may be bugs. I will try to fix the bugs as I find them, but just know there has been no outside testing of the app yet.

The app is free to use, so have fun.
