This gift is suitable for children of all ages, from 1 to 99. The pattern calls for 1/4" thick wood and is available in two sizes. The large Teddy is 9.75" tall, and the small Teddy is 7.5" tall.

The Teddy Bear got its name and origin in 1902, inspired by a hunting trip involving U.S. President Theodore “Teddy” Roosevelt. On that trip, aides had tied a black bear to a tree so Roosevelt could shoot it, but he refused, finding it unsportsmanlike. A political cartoonist, Clifford Berryman, drew the incident in The Washington Post. A Brooklyn shopkeeper, Morris Michtom, saw the cartoon and was moved to design a stuffed toy bear, originally putting one in his shop window with the label “Teddy’s Bear.” Roosevelt consented to the use of his name.

Simultaneously, a German toy maker, Richard Steiff, had been sketching bears from zoo visits and created a plush, jointed bear in 1902 called the “55 PB” (55 cm tall, plush, movable limbs). That bear was shown in Germany in 1903, and demand grew rapidly, especially after orders were placed from the U.S. From then on, Teddy Bears became hugely popular around the world. Over time, their shape softened: from more realistic bear cub likenesses with longer snouts and small eyes to more stylized, cute versions with big eyes and rounder features.

Desk Name Generator App

I have posted apps that make Desk Name Plate Patterns in the past. My goal for this one is to make it easier to use. You just type the person's name, enter how long in inches you want it to be, and then hit print. The pattern can be up to 20" long. The base is not part of the pattern. No need for the base pattern.
