Boring Information: Read if you are interested, but it is not critical.

I had a bit of a scare last night. I’ve been using this blog almost daily for over 17 years, and as far as I can recall, it’s never gone down like it did tonight. Technically, the blog itself wasn’t down—it was the blog editor I use to make my daily posts that failed.

For those unfamiliar with how blogs work: you typically have a template that holds all the static content, and each day you log into the editor to add the new material. When I logged in last night, the template was gone. Not just missing—completely vanished. And to make matters worse, so was my backup. I store backups in the cloud, but somehow that folder had disappeared. I must’ve deleted it at some point without realizing. After 17 years of never needing it, I lost it the one time I did.

Rebuilding the template from scratch would take days, and I wasn’t looking forward to that. I tried reaching out to Google support (since they own Blogger), but that was a dead end. So I decided to fix it myself. What could possibly go wrong? Just 17 years of my life at stake. 😁

After a few hours of frustration, the fix took—wait for it—two minutes. I went back to the original template editor and found a command to customize the template. I clicked it, changed one small detail, and everything came back. Apparently, something in Blogger’s editor had gotten corrupted, and a simple save resolved it.

I checked the Google support forum and saw that several other blog owners were experiencing the same issue. Hopefully, my fix will help some of them, too.

I’m sharing this story to let you know: if something on the main blog isn’t working quite right, I won’t be surprised. It’ll take me a little time to test everything. Thanks for sticking with me.

This Nativity Star Pattern is 8" wide, and the pattern calls for 1/4" thick wood. To be perfectly honest, the concept for this pattern is not my idea. I saw a similar pattern on Pinterest and wanted to give it a try at my own version.

The Angel Christ is Born pattern is almost 12" tall. The pattern calls for 1/8", 1/4", and 3/4" thick wood.
