This Train Clock would look great in a child's room. I used 3/4" thick walnut to give the train some depth. The base is a contrasting maple. The clock is about 10" long.
The insert is a 1 7/16" mini insert. Use a 1 3/8" forstner bit to cut the hole for the insert. Just cut the hole deep enough for the clock to fit flush.
I have a couple days off work this Thursday and Friday. I hope to spend several hours in the workshop and I'm looking forward to every minute. We are coming to the time of year here in the US when woodworkers start spending more time in their shops. It is also a good time to think about shop safety. The next time you go into your shop take a few minutes to think about what you can do to make your shop safer. This is a great hobby but it can be dangerous. Don't let a careless moment turn into a lifetime of regret. Be safe.

More Funny Word Art Patterns
This pattern book contains eight funny word art patterns. These make cool novelty gifts. I generally cut these from inexpensive clear pine. I cut the words and the base from 1/2" wood but 3/4" works fine also.
If you think of any funny short sayings, send them my way and I'll make patterns from them.
Have fun making some saw dust.

Think Safety
Remember to keep the safety of yourself and others in your work shop in your thoughts at all times. Always wear eye and ear protection. Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
