You have options with this pattern. To add a 3d effect, I added overlays of the bird and wings. You can skip that part or just use the wing overlays. I mention this because the bird body overlay will require some precise cutting to make everything line up, and sanding the edges will be difficult. Just use what you like.
Harbod Freight Bauer Branded Scroll Saw

A few months ago, I picked up the Harbor Freight Bauer scroll saw for a review. It’s currently priced at a pretty nice $279.99. Because of some health issues, I never got around to filming the video review, but today, I’m going to share my early thoughts. I’ve used it enough to give you a solid first impression.
When I pulled it out of the box, my first thought was, “Wow, this thing is heavy.” I own most of the top scroll saws on the market, and without actually weighing them, I’d say this might be the heaviest one. That’s a good thing—weight helps keep vibration down.
Setup was quick and straightforward. Some of the external parts feel just a little cheaper compared to other saws in this class, but the price helps make up for it. The thumb screw for blade changes is small but functional. The quick-tension lever is also small, but it does the job.
Now, the table is where this saw really shines. It’s large, smooth, and well-finished. The distance from the blade to the front edge is 8". Most higher-end saws fall between 4.75" and 9", so this is right in the sweet spot. The total table length is 27.5", which is above average.
The saw has a 22" throat depth, giving you plenty of room for bigger projects. It’s a tilting-arm design with rack-and-pinion gearing for smooth adjustments—45 degrees to the right and 30 degrees to the left.
Other features include tool-free blade clamps (top and bottom feed), a dust blower, and double parallel-link arms for reduced vibration.
What I can’t tell you yet is how well it will hold up over time or what common part failures might show up. It’s still a newer model, and those answers only come with extended use.
Overall, for $279.99, I think the Harbor Freight Bauer scroll saw is an excellent value. I may not put enough hours on it to see long-term issues, but I’ll keep an ear out for feedback and update my review if anything changes.
This is not a paid review. I receive nothing for the review, and my opinions are as truthful as possible.
