We are going to the closing on our new house today. We are moving back to where we grew up. Our families are still there and it will be nice to be closer to them. We will be a mile from my brother and a few miles from Patty's family. If all goes well our movers will be here Monday and we will be on our way to our new home. That inspired today's very simple pattern.
I finished tearing down my shop today. That was a challenge. I disassembled all the scroll saws and prepared them for the move. I took all the other tools off their stands and removed the blades. Most time was cleaning all the tools. I did not want to take dust into the new house so I thoroughly cleaned everything. It is amazing how many places dust can hide.
I eliminated most of the stuff that did not absolutely need to be moved. I tore down a few old DIY jigs that I have not used in years. I got rid of all the old paint and chemicals. I figured moving chemicals was just an accident waiting to happen.
The next five days will be very busy so you may not hear from me for a while. I will get my computers set back up on the first day. Then I will get enough tools assembled to make projects and I should be back online. Fingers crossed. In fourteen years I think I have only missed three days in a row once. The blog has become such a part of my life that it feels strange thinking I might be offline for a while. I guess I'll live.
Thanks for all the support. I'll keep you posted.

These are not going to be a big challenge to assemble but they are neat conversation pieces. Turn these five public domain colorful images into 12 piece 2" X 2" jigsaw puzzles using a simple to use template.
You need to use a very small blade so the puzzle pieces fit well. I generally use a #1 scroll reverse or a #2/0 scroll reverse blade.
You also want to make sure you get a good bond between the image and the 2" board. I use 3M 45 and follow the instructions for a permanent bond.
Instructions are included with the pattern.

I have spoken to a couple of veterans this week and they are not very happy about events in Afghanistan. I do my best to avoid politics here on the blog. This pattern is not a statement about the outcome in Afghanistan. It is a statement of thanks to the men and women who served there.
They went and did the job they were told to do. The outcome is in the hands of people other than the soldiers. Some of them are still there and have a nearly impossible job to do. I pray for their safety and the safety of all who are in danger.
Like veterans from all conflicts, the veterans of the Afghan war gave up time with their families and friends. They endured hardships and in some cases, they sacrificed their lives. They deserve our support.
If you are a veteran please know that many of us appreciate your service to our country. Thank you.
I know I will get a few emails about this post. Some positive and some negative. I can handle both but I very likely will not respond, so don't be offended by my silence.

Remember to keep the safety of yourself and others in your work shop in your thoughts at all times. Always wear eye and ear protection. Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
