Round Butterfly Box Scroll Saw Pattern.
This is a delicate project. It probably is more of a show piece than a useful box but I like it. The wings are cut from 1/8" stock so you should stack cut them for better control and to speed up the work. The body is 3/8" dowel stock that is tapered to the tail.
I used a 1/8" drill bit in a drill press to cut the slots in the body for the wings. It will be tough to make the slots without a drill press. The wings are delicate so you need the slots to hold the wings securely.
I sanded one side of the dowel flat so the body can be glued to the top of the box.

Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
