Robot Clock and Night Light Scroll Saw Pattern.

This bed side Robot clock and night light is over ten inches tall.

This is a project you can make for your child or grandchild. I cut him from 3/4" pine craft board from Home Depot. You could use MDF. There is one part that needs to be 1/4" thick. It's the part that holde in the clip light.

I disassembled a 2 3/4" clock insert and replaced the dial with a high tech dial. (included in the pattern). I just glued the dial over the existing dial. This is optional. The original dial will work fine. Some of the clock inserts you buy will not come apart easily.

Bear Woods link for the clock insert.

I used a clip in hobby light. I replaced the original bulb that was clear with a white bulb. You can find these light kits in many craft stores. Here is a link to one on Amazon.

You can use the kit as built. I wanted to run the cord through the arms of the robot so I cut the cord, routed it through the holes in the robot arms then reassembled the cord with hardware from Home Depot.

Portrait Pattern Tutorial DVD:

The number one request I get from readers is "Can you design a portrait pattern for me?". Unfortunately, most of the time I can't. I just don't have the time. The good news is that I can show you how to do it yourself.

My DVD tutorial is 1 hour and 30 minutes of everything you need to take a picture of a loved one and turn it into a wooden portrait.

The tutorial will take you from selecting the picture to cutting the final portrait and everything in between.

I show you which software you need and where to get it. I use free, open source software for the tutorial so everyone can download it. The software is available for Windows and MAC users.

The technique is simple once you know the process and the correct software to use.
It's simply a matter of tracing the photo.

Mototcycle Scroll Saw PAttern.

The original motorcycle graphic for this pattern was from www.vectorportal.com. I modified it to be cuttable on a scroll saw. I also added the rider. The pattern is nearly ten inches long.

I am trying to get ready to travel to The Woodworking Show of Texas at the end of this week. Things might be a little slow here on the blog for the next few days. I'll do my best to keep the patterns coming.

I will be the guest of Bear Woods at the show this weekend. If you have the opportunity to come to the show please take time to stop and say hello. I will be in the booth most of the weekend. I may be in and out for short periods. I do have one demonstration/meet and greet on Saturday. I believe it starts at 2pm. I'll be out of the booth for that a while during that event.

Think Safety

Remember to keep the safety of yourself and others in your work shop in your thoughts at all times. Always wear eye and ear protection. Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
