In my life, I have lived in two states. Indiana and Kentucky. Both states are rabid basketball fanatics. We are about to start March Madness so this pattern is my salute to basketball buzzer-beaters. The first time I lived in Indiana I was an IU fan. Bobby Knight came to our basketball banquet when I was a sophomore. That was the year IU went undefeated so Bobby was in high demand. My high school coach worked at Bobby Knights camps so he was able to get him to our banquet. Let's just say I was impressed. I even spoke with him for a minute.
After I graduated tech school I had to move to Kentucky to start my career at Xerox. We moved to Lexington, home of the Kentucky Wildcats. It took about a day to become a fan of UK basketball because everyone in town was a crazy fan. Now 43 years later I still rarely miss a UK basketball game. I might have missed one or two games a season but most seasons I watched every game. Except the year they were banned from live TV!
During the summer in Southern Indiana, we would spend almost every good weather day at the outside courts. We had a couple of ABA players in the area and many really good college players including Darrel Griffith. I even had an ex-ABA player as a high school assistant coach. During the summer I would keep the gym open as a job. Bill James a retired ABA Kentucky Colonel came in one day. He mentioned that he was retired and driving a truck for a living. I told him we had an assistant coach opening and he would be perfect for the job. He had a teaching certificate. Long story short. He applied and got the job. Big mistake on my part. They made him the conditioning coach and he almost killed us.π Sorry about the probably boring story but I was reliving my youth. π To make a long story longer, I love basketball. The only problem now is that my ten-year-old niece beats me every time at HORSE. My mind still thinks I can play but my body says NO!
The piece is 10.25" tall and almost 7.5" wide at the base.
If you love basketball then watch this video. I think I saw about 80% of these shots live on TV.Greatest March Madness Buzzer Beaters of All-Time
Great price for the Dewalt DW788 Scroll saw.
Amazon currently has the DeWalt DW788 on sale for $399. This is probably the most popular scroll saw for the last several years with dedicated scrollers. I am not saying it is the best scroll saw but at this price, the value is really great. I purchased a DeWalt scroll saw back in 2006. I had entry-level saws before the DeWalt but this saw completely changed my mind about how a saw should work. It is the reason I started this blog in 2007. If you own an entry-level scroll saw and are looking to upgrade this is a good upgrade at a great price. The link below is an affiliate link. Remember that Amazon prices change quickly.
