The 4th of July, also known as Independence Day, marks the anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. On that day, the thirteen American colonies formally declared their separation from Great Britain, signaling the birth of a new nation—the United States of America. The Continental Congress approved the Declaration, which had been drafted primarily by Thomas Jefferson, laying out the colonies' reasons for seeking independence. The document boldly stated that all men are created equal and have unalienable rights, setting the foundation for American values of liberty and democracy.
The celebration of Independence Day began soon after the Revolutionary War, with public readings of the Declaration, parades, bonfires, and fireworks. It became a symbol of American freedom and unity. Over the years, the 4th of July has evolved into a national holiday filled with traditions like patriotic music, family gatherings, and public events. In 1870, Congress made it an official federal holiday. Today, it stands as a proud reminder of the country’s founding principles and the enduring spirit of independence that defines the American identity.
Both of these patterns are cut from 1/4" thick wood. The Uncle Sam pattern is 1" tall, and the Uncle Sam Hat pattern is 10.25" tall. I am showing both of them painted, and for the Red, White, and Blue, I believe the paints work for both patterns.
