Christmas Scroll Saw Art.

This framed Christmas scene is 12" long and 8" high. The backer board is covered with Christmas wrapping paper to make the wood cut stand out. The frame is just a simple butt joint assembly. You can use 1/2" or 3/4" thick wood but I think it looks best if the frame is 3/4" and the cut out is 1/2" thick. That gives it a shadowbox effect.

You can use cardboard for the backer. Cover it with the wrapping paper and staple it to the back of the frame.

Leaf Spirit Scroll Saw Pattern.

I think you will enjoy cutting this happy leaf spirit. My wife and I spent the last few days in Nashville Indiana and the Brown County State Park. Nashville is a small arts and crafts community located a few miles south of Indianapolis. The streets of Nashville are lined with small stores selling crafts of all types. Unfortunately many are selling mass produced items. There is just enough local artists work on display to make the stay worth the time.

The Brown County state park is located just a couple miles out of Nashville. It is not a huge park but it makes up for it's size by being meticulously maintained. The rolling hills and thick forest are beautiful. My wife and I spent the day driving and walking through the park. We stopped at one spot and had a little picnic. Of course we had a typical geek picnic. We pulled the truck into an overlook and picnicked in the truck while we watched a movie on my Ipad. :) I'm a city boy, what can I say.

Because I have been away for a few days I'm further behind on email than ever. I'll try to get to as many as possible this weekend.
