Small Mini Heart Clock Scroll Saw Pattern.

http://www.stevedgood.com/estore/estore.html

This is another one of those projects where the materials probably mean more than the craftsmanship. Don't get me wrong, you always want to maintain high quality craftsmanship. I paid special attention to making the glue-up tight and flush. I tried to be very accurate cutting the heart with nice sharp points. Little details matter.

This clock is so simple that it only took me about a half hours to complete. Because I used beautiful hardwoods and a specialty mini clock insert I think it looks very nice.  I think most women would love to have this on their desk at work.

I cut the bottom to a 15 degree angle with my chop saw. This is optional but I think is looks more finished with the angle. To give the clock a balanced look I used  4/4" wood for the body of the clock. This is another design decision. If you only have access to 3/4" thick wood then consider using the 1/4" thick clock face on the back of the clock also.

I used the specialty clock insert from my sponsor Bear Woods. This one cost around $12. You can use any mini clock insert but I think the flower pattern fits this pattern very well.

Reader Email:
I received this email from Terry Hoy today. He recently purchased my Complete Course in Portrait Pattern Design. Here is what he said.

"Hi Steve,
You asked for an image of patterns made using your video.
This one is of my grandson for his second birthday.
It got to be a bit of a rush in the end, and I'm sure that I will make a better job of it in the near future.
I further processed the image produced with gimp from black and white, to grey with a black outline, using Inkscape trace, as I find it easier to follow a line.
The second image is yours truly, and has not been cut out yet.
Thanks for your Video, its great fun.
PS. Its okay to put the images on your blog should wish, I’ve obliterated Arthur’s surname on the photo.

Regards Terry"

Thanks Terry, you did a great job on the patterns. I appreciate you sharing your results.

DGC PRODUCTS i-Socket Autoswitch

I own three of these auto switches. They work great for automatically starting a dust collector with the power tool on/off switch. Don't buy this for use with your scroll saw. The current draw of the scroll saw is not high enough to trigger this switch. Just use a foot switch with your scroll saw and plug the saw and vacuum into the foot switch.

  • Intelligent plug-in switch
  • Automatically controls a vacuum or dust collector through the power tool's on/off switch
  • Eliminates continual running of vacuum
  • Preserves the vacuum motor life
  • Easy to install

Think Safety

Remember to keep the safety of yourself and others in your work shop in your thoughts at all times. Always wear eye and ear protection. Follow all the manufactures warnings that came with your power tools. If I demonstrate something on this web site that you don't feel is safe, don't do it. Your safety is your responsibility. Fingers are handy things, try to keep all of them.
