This Guitar Jigsaw Puzzle is more of a decoration than a challenging puzzle. There are only nine pieces to the puzzle. The puzzle pattern is 10.25" long and two layers that are 1/4" Thick.
One option to make it more of an art piece is to glue the pieces in place, with one or two pieces removed and glued to the surface. The other option is to make it an actual puzzle.
Jigsaw puzzles, as we know them, trace back to the mid-1700s when London mapmaker John Spilsbury mounted maps on wood and cut them into pieces to help teach geography—basically “dissected maps.” Over time, the idea spread beyond classrooms to become a fun pastime for adults and children, especially among wealthier families who could afford the handmade sets. Early puzzles were usually cut from wood with fine tools, which made them pricey and kind of a luxury item (the original “I’ll do this for relaxation”… until you lose one piece 😄).
The big change came in the late 1800s and early 1900s with mass production: cardboard puzzles became common, much cheaper, and easier to print with colorful artwork and photographs. During the Great Depression in the 1930s, jigsaws exploded in popularity because they were an affordable form of entertainment, and companies even used them as promotions and advertising. Since then, puzzles have kept evolving—better cutting methods, interlocking piece shapes, huge piece counts, specialty themes, and modern “puzzle culture” with competitions and collectors—while still delivering the same classic satisfaction of snapping that last piece into place.
