Quiet Please.... The baby is sleeping.

http://www.stevedgood.com/estore/estore.html
I bet any new mother would like to get this door hanger. Remember those days when you prayed the baby would sleep just a little longer? Hoping for a solid four hours of shut eye. Yea, I can't remember that long ago either but I'm sure it happened.

Great News:
I now have confirmations that I will have the soon to be released Seyco scroll saw at the Atlanta Woodworking show this coming weekend. It has been shipped.

I believe the Seyco machine will be a major player in the high end scroll saw market. It has been redesigned from the ground up with the user in mind. This might very possibly be your saw for the next fifteen years. If you don't have a chance to come see it this weekend don't worry. I'm going to bring it back to my shop for a couple weeks and give it a good workout. I will pass along as much of the experience as possible.

Information:
In the spring 2017 sales flyer from scrolleronline.com this ad appears.
Below is a pattern I posted back on July 25, 2015.
I'm not posting this to cry fowl. I just want to answer a couple of concerned emails I received today. Yes the concept of the pattern in scrolleronline.com was obviously copied from my earlier design. No, they did not contact me and let me know they were going to sell their version. Mine is free by the way.

They copied the concept but at least they did not just post my pattern. They probably crossed the line a little because it's so close but honestly I don't care enough to make a thing out of it.

The line between a copy of a pattern and a copy of a concept can get blurred. Generally if you are going to use a concept from another pattern you want to change it enough that it is not confusing to the average person that it is not a copy. You be the judge if they met that standard.

Another point is that some concepts are so general that more than one person can reasonably make a pattern of that concept. An example of this would be a Christmas ornament. The idea of designing an ornament is so general that just about every designer has done one. Some my look very similar but the concept of Santa on a sleigh pictured on an ornament is going to come up more than once.

The reason I even bring this to your attention is this. One of the emails I received today ask why I was selling designs to scrolleronline.com and posting them for free on my blog. That's the kind of confusion that blurring the line can cause. I just want it to be clear that I did not sell or give this design to scrolleronline.com

A better question would be "Is their pattern $9.95 better than mine?" If it is then by all mean buy it. If it's not then maybe some one will ask them why theirs is so expensive. :) The motor cycle is pretty cool though.

Guest Post: Lori Scott
I received this in my email today and thought it was special. I wanted to share it with everyone. This is not a typical scroll saw project but it shows the versatility of the machine. Thanks Lori.

Here is the email I received from Lori.

Hi Steve,

I just made this zebra rocker for a big event the Humane Society had yesterday.  It was included in their silent auction.  I always donate projects with animal themes that I cut out on the band saw and require endless sanding.  Now that I'm a scroll saw enthusiast I decided to make this year's project using my scroll saw.  The majority of the lumber used is 1.5" thick Douglas Fir.  I used #7 Flying Dutchman Ultra Reverse  blades on all the thick lumber including the rockers that have a 37" overall length.  It took longer to cut on the scroll saw but eliminated most of the sanding which was wonderful.  The zebra rocker went for $233.00.  Thanks to all your helpful video's and daily blog, I have learned a new way to make a big project using the scroll saw!
